Imogen and Laudna hadn't had much time to themselves since the kiss, and they just wanted some time to figure it all out. By "figure it all out" they meant "kiss a whole bunch", and they loved their friends - they did - but these interruptions were getting a little ridiculous.

“Incredible story, actually,” she said and made her way to the lectern as if she had done it a million times. “I did have a great presentation ready—mind blowing, really—but I left my flash drive at my hotel, so I’m just going to wing it.”
“You’re going to…wing it?” It was the first time all day Lilith had spoken to a lecturer. “You are one of five, out of hundreds of applicants, to vie for this incredibly coveted position, and you’re going to wing it?”
“Yep!” She said with a happy clap and pressed the button to raise the projector screen. “I’m good at doing things on the fly. You could say I’m-“ she looked over her shoulder at the class, “in my element.”

Summary
Imogen and Laudna were friends when they were younger. Both because of proximity to one another (who didn’t run around with the neighbor kids if given the chance) and because they were both the quiet kid and gravitated to each other. For a few years. Until Imogen’s mom left when she was nine. And she and her dad had to move away. He told her it was a money thing, but looking back now, as an adult, she knows he was also trying to get away from the place his heart was broken. It’s been almost twenty years since then and she’s recently returned, not expecting to see a familiar face in the bar.
Meanwhile, Laudna never left. She mourned the loss of a friend, but when you’re that young, you move on pretty easily. Occasionally she’d think about the friend she played pretend with, but never for long. Until she bumps into her, literally, at a bar in town with some friends of hers. Different hair, but very much the same person. And she has no idea if she even recognizes her. Summary
Ava rolls over, shutting her brain off, and very carefully presses the palm of her hand on Beatrice’s waist.
Beatrice tenses immediately, a sharp intake of breath filling the otherwise quiet bedroom.
A few seconds pass with nothing and Ava starts to pull away, an apology on her lips, when Beatrice grabs her wrist. It’s so fast that Ava hardly registers what happened, but suddenly, she’s being pulled to the other side of the bed.
Ava lets it happen, helps, and now she’s hovering over Beatrice. She’s so close she can see the shine in her eyes, how wide they are and she can see them flicker to her lips and back up.
Bea’s made this move, it’s her turn now. Ava leans forward, giving Beatrice a chance to turn her away.
When she doesn’t, it’s game over. Their lips meet and every functioning part of Ava’s brain that might tell her there will be consequences to this completely disappear.
The world could set fire tonight and Ava would keep kissing her as the apartment collapsed around them.
