Summary
Hiccup does not join them. Everyone knows why. He’s grown up, just like the rest of them, but he’s still slight and fragile and, most of all, he’s strange. No one is like Hiccup, with his odd mannerisms and gentle touch and skewed view of the world. He goes off on his own and brings back junk only he seems to find interesting; spending his time inventing new contraptions in Gobber’s forge instead of improving his own body for battle.
Mostly, Astrid doesn’t think about him. After all, he’s strange, and she’s not. She’ll never be like him— she’s going to be the one to kill the dragon.
