On top of attending college and working part-time at his father's forge, Henry spends most nights preventing crime as the semi-famous hero, Black Knight. He also happens to have the hots for his fellow hero, Phoenix. However, Phoenix's true identity is Hans Capon, a man Henry simply can not stand. If that wasn't tangled enough, Henry also has to contend with finding out the world's greatest superhero is his biological dad. Oh, and yeah, there might also be some supervillain scheming going on in the shadows that it'll be up to Henry and Hans to stop. Easy, right?

Summary
With food becoming scarce, Henry and Lord Radzig are running out of options to keep themselves fed after the assault on Skalitz. Bandaged and unable to take care of himself, Lord Radzig, a pureblood werewolf, is at the mercy of newly turned Henry to look after him. With options growing slimmer and each day bleaker, despite the warnings of greater dangers beyond the Skalitz woods, Henry must venture out in search of food.
One would think a pesky Vampyre Lord would be the greatest of Henry's issues.

When the young man walks into the storefront, Bashka grinds the stubborn impulse to pity him under his heel. In with the dirt and the blood. He looks filthy— and hungry— chin sprouting with whiskers that look like they itch, and two purses under his eyes from lack of sleep. A brace of coneys hangs from his belt, flopping bonelessly with every minute movement.
"Do you trade meat for coin?" he asks, bold. Brash. The scrap with the bailiff's son has evidently taught him nothing.
"Not from the lord's woods," Bashka scoffs. "That would be poaching."
"Then fortunately I'm no poacher."
Butcher Bashka has a simple life: kill meat, and sell it. Unfortunately, a simple life doesn't afford much these days, and an under-the-table deal with Troskowitz's newest troublemaker becomes a way to make ends meet.
