Steve could only stare at her. For one terrifying moment, he thought he might be dreaming. He thought he might wake up in a few seconds only to find himself once again alone in this brand new world and time. But the longer he stared, the more aware he was that this was really happening. His lips parted, and finally, he spoke. Softly, a whisper. Like he was afraid being too loud would make her disappear.
"Lucy?"
But the young blonde in front of him only narrowed her eyes and cocked her head to the side. "Um, no."
And then her eyes shifted from blue to a deep, rich indigo, and Steve felt his heart drop.
