“I’ll take good care of her,” Vash smiles, petting down the side of Punisher’s barrel almost lovingly while Wolfwood’s pulse climbs to record heights. He sends a silent prayer to the dunes, hoping the sandworms are hungry tonight. If he gets eaten, he doesn’t have to think about why Vash looking mildly content is enough to set his nerves on fire.
“Bet your life on it, Blondie.”
They’re living off the wasteland, cheap bounties, and borrowed time. Still, at the end of it all, Wolfwood stays.

It's not really a decision that Wolfwood makes, to sit on his own bed beside Vash's. It's like some cosmic pieces are clicking into place, the way breath enters and leaves his lungs without much conscious thought.

“Not that kinda—” Wolfwood opens the folder and sees the resemblance immediately. Blond. Mole under one eye. An air of something Wolfwood can’t quite put his finger on that makes him a little nervous. “Cute,” he says, because he’s never much cared for developing a brain-to-mouth filter; not around other adults, at least. “Looks like he stuck too many forks in outlets as a kid.”

Summary
An evening in a run-down hotel, cheap beer and a conversation about what it's like to be a Plant among humans. Wolfwood didn't expect to hear about Vash's anatomical features. Vash didn't expect Wolfwood to so passionately defend the dignity of the male member. He goes through all the stages of grief simultaneously — denial, anger, attempts to explain all the importance of what was lost — and somewhere between the sixth mug of beer and a lecture on the wonders of human anatomy realizes two things. First: he just confessed that he has a hard-on for Vash. Second: judging by the languid look from under half-lowered eyelids, Vash isn't embarrassed by this at all. Moreover, he's going to take advantage of the situation.
