Summary
"Knight Skywalker, do you have a best friend?" the boy asks.
Obi-Wan, he's about to say, but he stops himself in a panic. How can he call the man he's in love with his best friend, when Jedi aren't supposed to have best friends to begin with?
He has to set a good example for these younglings. He has to show Obi-Wan that he's taking his duties seriously, despite his earlier reluctance, and he has to show him that he's a good Jedi.
Jedi don't have best friends, so Anakin doesn't, either.
After a disastrous visit to the creche, Anakin accidentally finds himself best friends with everyone in the galaxy. Everyone, that is, but Obi-Wan.

Obi-Wan has had little to do with Qui-Gon’s new padawan, Anakin Skywalker, over the years. He doesn’t even care about him. He certainly doesn’t keep tabs on him, track his school work, or rearrange his schedule to have matching study times in the Archives. And if Padawan Skywalker is missing from dinner one night, he definitely doesn’t roam all over the Temple looking for him.
If he happens to find a sobbing Padawan Skywalker in the Temple gardens it is only duty as a Jedi Knight that prompts him to lend a shoulder to cry on. Nothing more.
Wow, that was an impressive number of lies even for Mr. Self-Denial himself.

Summary
“Grandmaster Yoda,” Obi-Wan acknowledged, tearing his eyes away from Anakin. His eyes were expectant as he prompted, “You have something to say, do you not?”
Yoda closed his eyes. He breathed deeply, centering himself, before he looked back at Obi-Wan. “Return Anakin Skywalker to your care, I do. Relinquished by the Order, he has been. Our blessings upon this union, you both have.”

Obi-Wan fell after Qui-Gon's death and was expelled from the Order. Left to his own devices, Obi-Wan ended up killing Palpatine, seizing control of the Republic, and crowning himself Emperor. Meanwhile, the Jedi are losing the war, the public's trust, and potentially the Order itself. Obi-Wan offers a peaceful resolution, a way to bring peace to the galaxy and balance to the Force. He offers a marriage, between a Sith and a Jedi, between himself and another. And the only Jedi he'll accept is Anakin.
