After Benson has smoked a cigarette, leaning against the car, they leave the liquor store but don’t get too far. Benson follows the road alongside the abandoned field until they reach a wooded area. Benson puts the car in park and kills the engine. In the dying sunlight, he looks more tired than he has all day. More vulnerable. Except for when he was punching the–
“Ever been drunk, Randy?” asks Benson, interrupting Randy’s train of thoughts (as if he had known what he had been thinking about, because Benson always seems at least a step ahead of him).
Randy must’ve been lost in his thoughts a little too long, because Benson snaps his fingers at him. “Come on, I asked you a question here.”
“No, Benson.”
—Or: After leaving Miss Beard's house together, Benson decides they're going to drink. It's not like Randy can say no. It's not like he wants to say no anyway.

His jaw is clenching hard and his eyes are furious. This is not Ben Solo approaching her slowly, menacingly; no, Kylo Ren is the one facing her right now, closing the distance between them.
Contrary to what she initially believed, Rey realizes she will probably not get out of this alive.

If you went digging around in Benson's car, you'd find a bottle of too-warm water that's probably safe to drink from. A spare high beam bulb, still in the packaging. A tire pump purchased almost twenty years ago for a blue bicycle. An even distribution of about thirty napkins. Enough change rattling in the glove box to buy a lottery ticket. He has everything you'd need to keep rolling down dirty roads with no end in sight.
The only thing missing from Benson's car is a gun or two.

A loud buzzing sounds between her ears. It drowns out the ED, the commentary of the other nurses as Ahmad hits play on a video cued up from a local news’ YouTube channel that reads HOSTAGE SITUATION AT PITTSBURGH BANK in the lower chyron.
The video shows a shaky camera zoomed way far in as, yeah, that’s definitely Jack, walking toward the front doors of a Philly First National branch with his hands held up in surrender.

Jack’s TEMS shift goes awry, and all Samira can do is wait.
