Summary
Spotting a seagull in the faraway distance, Thomas wonders what it would feel like to have wings. Would they come out of his back where his shoulder-blades lay bare? Would it hurt to move them, to fly? He thinks he had wings, once. Wings that believed in him, that carried him beyond where the Sun dips when nighttime comes. Wings that trusted him to steer them in the right direction, the right path that led to safety. Yes, Thomas had wings. Until he flew too close to freedom, where men and women with gentle smiles and silky words ripped them from his back and left them to wither with all their feathers underneath the debris of the Last City. Thomas had wings until he gave them up.
Until he shot a bullet through their skeleton and watched them die in his arms.

Kageyama honest-to-god smiled. Not just a competitive smirk or a feigned grin for a photo op-- but an open, genuine smile. Diego nearly dropped his water bottle.
And if the smile wasn’t shocking enough, Diego noticed something as Kageyama pulled off his practice shirt; a thin black cord looping around his neck, starkly contrasting against pale skin. Which was surprising enough (he didn’t peg Kageyama as the jewelry type), but what hung from the bottom of the necklace stopped Diego in his tracks.
There, dangling from the cord, light catching on its smooth surface, was a ring.

Summary
A hand grasped his arm, sending a brief thrill down Merlin's nerves as he was forced around to face the person behind him. Armour gleamed in the firelight: supple chainmail glinted, and the solid iron of a pauldron curved lovingly over one broad shoulder. The length of a sword blade separated them. The point hovered, steady and sure, over Merlin's heart, braced to run him through, but he did not care about any of that. He was too busy drinking in the sight of the man before him.
He could never forget him, no matter how many centuries had passed.
