Rio’s hand came to rest on the back of her head. “Okay.”
“Okay?” Agatha asked, narrowing her eyes, reading her expression with the care of someone studying sacred text.
Rio nodded again, slower this time. “Whatever you want.”
No. Agatha gently pecked her lower abdomen before moving up to bring them face to face again. Her hand came up to cup Rio’s jaw, thumb brushing gently along the bone before tucking it under her chin, guiding her to meet her eyes fully. “Rio,” she said, tone soft but serious. “I need your consent. Not your surrender. I need you to let me do this because you want it. Not just because I do.”
Rio fell quiet for a moment. Her brow furrowed slightly, not in conflict, but in consideration. She tilted her head. “I am unable to tell you whether I want it,” she said, honest as ever. “Because I have no idea how it feels. But I do want to try. Summary

Except, when Beatrice turned the key in the lock, she knew immediately that the apartment was not empty. An unfamiliar sound was coming from their bedroom.
Beatrice set the grocery bags down, managing to avoid anything more than the softest crinkle of brown paper as they hit the countertop. The floorboards, normally old and creaky, were silent beneath her feet. She reached for the knife on her back, fingers wrapping around the handle as she got to the door, open just enough for Beatrice to peak inside and –
