Xie Lian’s mouth dropped open, glancing at the cottage, which was ten steps away.
“I-” he gaped hopelessly, before giving up. He took a breath to steel himself, and lurched to grab Hua Cheng’s hand. It was cool, fingers slender and long. Hua Cheng laced their fingers together. Xie Lian's hand felt engulfed. He was very aware of how pink his face must be.
“Much better. Now I can see it,” said Hua Cheng, nodding magnanimously.

Dabi sighed, taking a deep inhale of the cigarette between his lips. He gazed lazily at the smoke rising up once he’d exhaled the calming drug. It soon disappeared into the stars, lingering in the air yet invisible to the naked eye.
He knew fully well that Hawks hated the smell. If anything, that’s why he made sure to pick a packet up before this very meeting.
“Thanks for pointing out the obvious, bird brain.”
As expected, Hawks cringed away from it and quickly covered his nose with a crimson feather.
“I called you here to discuss our next move, not to be drowned in second hand smoke.”
Dabi scoffed out a laugh, enough to make his staples nearly tear. The burnt flesh tugged and stretched, as he cocked his head to the side with a wide smirk.
