    Merlin is out riding with the knights when they are attacked by bandits. When he is shot with an arrow his magic flares out around him stopping the fight in an instant and revealing his magic in the process. He would be more worried if it were not clear he was about to bleed to death anyway.

    Excert:

    “Merlin!” Lance was there in an instant, helping Merlin to the ground gently, blood pooled around the Warlock and he was struggling to remain conscious, all the knights came rushing, it was clear Merlin would bleed to death in a few short minutes. “Do you trust me, Merlin?” He asked, suddenly serious and calm.

    Merlin looked taken aback even as he tried not to fall asleep, “Of course Lance.”

    Lance nodded, and pulled Merlin up to an almost sitting position, he looked into Merlin’s eyes “You are gonna be just fine, okay?” He hesitated only an instant before he ran the boy through with his sword, Merlin's eyes went wide then closed, he was dead.

    HOLY FUCK IS THAT A BABY?!

    The howling anguish of the Burial Mounds goes silent. Wei Wuxian has returned, and he has brought other people with him, and one of those people is, indeed, a baby. The little caravan of weary living people (who have a fucking baby with them) works its way up what might generously be called a path, deeper into the cursed hills, and they have the full attention of many, many ghosts. Resentful energy burns away, boiling into nothing under the utter shock of the situation.

    Who the fuck brings a baby to the Burial Mounds?

    Or: People think Wei Wuxian somehow cleansed the resentment of the Burial Mounds for the Wen survivors, but actually, the ghosts did it as babyproofing.
