In hindsight, he has to admit, the arrangement was actually… really well planned. And creative (Ash swears that he will never admit this until his dying day). Although, there was no way Gary could’ve picked those flowers out on his own; he had terrible color coordination, as Daisy so loved to remind him.
Any thoughts of begrudging acceptance are however thrown out the window as he rereads the note, red clouding his vision. So his response is well justified, and he screams curses at the flower bouquet, ignorant of the crowd he’s starting to amass.

His throat suddenly turns dry, and he couldn't help the fit of harsh coughing that came after. He roughly shoves his palms to his chest, breaths coming out in shallow wheezes as he tries to calm himself.
“He’s not- ahem- my boyfriend,” he chokes out, before hastening to shift back to his impartial mask. Maybe they would be gracious enough to allow him to make some tea to soothe his throat.
