But even after Aspen managed to shake them off and reach the usual rendezvous, Lila was nowhere to be found.

Higashiyama Kobeni's life up to this point has been, for lack of a better metaphor, a complete and utter train wreck. You'd think life would be easier on her after the whole 'Makima is actually a Devil and was out to kill me' bit, but no. Now Kobeni is down for the count after a curb stomping by life itself, a bank account nearly out of funds, and lacking any sort of employment. She thinks to herself, 'Life can't possibly get any worse!'
Then Denji smashes through the wall of her apartment.
