Summary

The glances his friends share are not subtle, at all.
“What?” Mike snaps.
“It’s just… you never talk about her,” Lucas says.
Mike’s grip on his beer tightens and he doesn’t say anything. Drinking so much was a mistake. His head is starting to spin in a mix of frustration, guilt, anger-
“It’s been years Mike,” Lucas is saying, gentle like he is when he’s trying to get through to someone, “how are you going to move on if you can’t even talk about, you know, the good memories?”
The good memories are all tinted red and feel like impending doom, except they already happened, they’re not impending, they’re just always doomed now.
“Maybe I won’t,” Mike mutters, words slurring.

Post canon au with a little twist. Karen and Ted Wheeler don't survive the demogorgon attack in season 5. When all of his friends leave for college, Mike stays in Hawkins to take care of Holly so Nancy can finally go to college. Mike is left with a house to take care of, a sister to raise, and a whole lot of repressed guilt and grief.

Summary
The inky blackness caused the coral to die and the fish to get sick. When the fish got sick, then Mike and Will got sick, with Will receiving the worst of it. He could barely keep anything down without his stomach rejecting it. Lesions formed, his fins flaked, and the energy in his body quickly depleted. He remembers how Mike would do his best to comfort and encourage Will to eat to no avail.
That’s where Will’s memory became hazy, and now he found himself here. Trapped in an unfamiliar place, away from his mate and his home, with no way out.
Will and Mike are two merpeople who get caught up in an oil spill on the California coastline. They are taken to Lenora’s Marine Rehabilitation Center, where they are cared for by Max, Jane, Dustin, and Lucas.

Mike had never been the best at the whole regulating emotions healthily thing, but there was only so much Nancy would take.
It was painfully clear that he was distraught, and Nancy was sure she knew why. Will Byers, the love of his life, the boy Mike has been in love with since he was six, officially moved out of their house.
The Byers were living with them for at least two months until they received a surprising amount of hush slash “sorry about all this, I really didn’t think this would happen” money from a certain Sam Owens, and bought back their old house. The family who lived there was just happy to get it off their hands and get out of Hawkins, which was very reasonable considering the town was collapsing in on itself.
_______Inspired from a post I saw on Pinterest w/ Nancy saying she fixed Mikes love life n Will being mad at her cause Mikes sobbing at his house... anyways enjoy (I tried my hardest)
