Summary
“Hello,” Damianos says, voice gruff with sleep and the aftermath of panic. There is a smile playing around his lips, the barest hint of a dimple on one of his cheeks. He looks soft, sleep-mussed, and not at all alarmed.
It’s insulting.
With a single swift movement, Laurent draws his knife from the sheath at his thigh and presses the tip of it to Damianos’ bared throat—not drawing blood, but threatening it. He uses the flat of the blade to tilt his head up.
“Not another word,” Laurent whispers, leaning down so his words brush against Damianos’ lips. “And don’t even think about calling for the guards.”

Summary
Damen's back burns with an unrelenting fury. Blood drips to the floor and pools beneath his bare feet. He's slipped more times than he can count, his hip crashing again and again into the whipping post they've bound him to.
It'll stain, he thinks blearily through the haze. It'll soak so deep into the porous concrete that nothing will ever be able to get the discoloration out. The entire warehouse will need to be renovated to hide what happened here.

Summary
Merlin learns, quickly, that it's much less painful to shove the shame deep, deep down and do as Arthur says. When commanded, he lies down at Arthur's feet, barks when told to speak, pulls his hands up to his chest and begs, even, when Arthur taunts him with a treat.

Summary
"It brings me no joy to have to resort to such measures," Lord de Vere says. The wine has stained his mouth blood-red. He dabs at it with a napkin. "But the older my nephew grows, the harder it becomes to ignore his… affliction."
Damen hums in vague agreement. "You mentioned a curse in your letter."
The missive arrived not a fortnight ago at the inn he was staying at. The messenger held it in his hands with something not unlike reverence and seemed unwilling to part with the parchment as Damen went to take it from him. The elder de Vere, it would appear, is well-liked in these parts.
The same cannot be said for his nephew.
"I'm sure you're aware of the Curse of the Black Sun," Lord de Vere says, quietly. His eyes wander the room as though he's making sure no one is around to hear. "My nephew was born on that unfortunate night, twenty years past."

Summary
Hen stared after Buck before her worry drifted over to Eddie without ever looking away from the bedroom.
“He’s not talking?” She asked even though the answer was right there in her face. In all of their faces.
Eddie’s heart kicked against his ribs as he shook his head. “No. Not much anyway. Not if he doesn’t have to.”
Hen’s expression went tight as she finally looked at him. “What do you mean not if he doesn’t have to?”

Summary
He finally cracks when Buck switches the station again, making a lingering pit stop on one that is just a loud crackling noise. Eddie reaches over and bats his hand away with a swift tap, jabbing his thumb at the off button and exhaling when the car goes silent.
Buck, beside him, huffs. “I was listening to that.”
Eddie can feel him staring, but keeps his own gaze focused on the road ahead and raises his brow. “To static?”
“I was trying to find a good station,” Buck mumbles, slouching down in his seat.
“Okay,” Eddie says evenly, “well, we’re five minutes from home. I think we can survive a little silence until then.”
A beat passes. Then, “Seven minutes.”
Eddie blinks. Blinks again. “What?”
“We’re seven minutes from home,” Buck corrects.
Jesus Christ. How hard is Eddie going to have to go to fuck the attitude out of him when they get home? He flicks on the indicator and turns down a familiar street. “Buck,” he sighs.
“What?”
Or: Buck brats. Eddie puts him back in his place.

Summary
Of all the things Eddie had ever expected Buck to ask him about, he absolutely hadn’t thought it would be his fake dating services.
“I... Yeah, I do. I do that. Why?”
“Well, um, I was wondering... And I know this sounds really weird, especially since I don’t think I’ve ever really talked to you before, which I’m sorry about, by the way, because I'm sure you’re a really cool guy, and I know I’ve seen you at some parties before, and we’ve been in this class together all semester, but—”
Finally, Eddie manages to pull himself together enough to hold up a hand to stop Buck’s rambling, and the boy immediately snaps his mouth shut, blue eyes wide and a little panicked.
“Buck, what exactly do you want?” he asks, brow furrowed with confusion, and Buck’s nervous shuffling increases tenfold, his smile completely gone now.
“Right. Um. I... I was wondering if maybe you’d be willing to, um... to fake date me.”

Summary
Eddie Diaz does not need a noisy neighbor on top of all the shit he's trying to work out.
But he does make really good mac and cheese.--
“You know,” And Buck is meeting his eyes now. They’re uncannily blue. Like Kool-Aid or popsicles. “If you want, I could show you what I get up to up there?”What? WHAT? Eddie feels heat spread from the tips of his ears to his toes. No way had he just gotten propositioned before sunrise in the decrepit hallway of their apartment building. “Um. No.” He backs up until his calves brush the door to 101. “Thank you, really. But no.”
