The building is overgrown the way most are now, wildlife seeping into structures that used to be solid and whole and clean. But it’s the sign right inside the broken door that catches her eyes more, a stand, filled with old, thin pages stapled together.
“Giants of the Past,” she reads, sucking in a little breath and then scans the space, catching sight of bones that look like the dinosaur on the cover of the thin book. “Joel! Is this a museum?”
“Nah, it’s a chicken coop.”
She shoves at him with a laugh. “Fuck off.”
He grins, tugging at her shorts. “C’mon. More to see, kiddo.”
