“Vander, it’s bleeding quite a bit.” He remembered the medical kit which had been next to the scissors he had grabbed, on the bed stand. He reached for it, opening it up and started pulling out the supplies he needed. “Sit.”
“Still worry ‘bout everyone else besides yourself.” It was a statement more than anything.
Silco studied the wound, ignoring the comment, “I really got you, I don’t think you’ll need stitches, but you should ask Felicia to take a look at it.” He heard Vander’s breath hitch making him glance up, “What?”
“Silco… I–” The hesitancy oozed out of him making Silco stop.
“Sorry, I thought I was being gentle.” He was completely and utterly oblivious. He thought he applied too much pressure to the wound while he was wrapping a bandage around it. He lifted a hand to Vander’s face and gently caressed. But the longer he sat and searched his eyes, he realized it was something more, “What?”
“Felicia… she–” Silco saw the tears well up slightly before Vander looked away.

Summary
It’s the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the bar is packed. Vander recognizes everyone– Vi and the girl she brought home from college hanging off each other like leeches, Ekko and Powder secretly holding hands under the table, Sevika throwing darts, Marcus on a date with some woman Vander actually doesn’t recognize, which sparks his interest.
Vander knows everyone in the bar.
Including the man that’s been staring him down for over half an hour.
Like a ghost of the past, Silco sits on a bar stool on the far side of the bar, legs crossed and chin lifted, and smiles at Vander.
Or; Vander spends five years with Silco and spends the next twenty-five trying to forget him.
