Summary
Maddie thought it would be nice to bring the echidna along to the veterinary clinic. Knuckles was the only one who hadn’t come to her place of work yet, and she enjoyed her oldest son’s company, so what could’ve gone wrong?
How naive she was…
Although the Pretzel Lady cherished any time spent with her family, this particular day was an exception. Most of her day was consumed by chasing after her kid to keep him out of trouble.
Fortunately, nothing disastrous ended up occurring, but, by the end of her shift, the vet was more than ready to head home with the echidna.
However, minutes away from her shift finally ending, she found out a German Shepherd, needed help.
From her trained eye, it was just a dislocated hip.
The only problem was... well, it was Joseph's dog.
Joseph was, to put it bluntly, a misogynistic man.
And Maddie will have to put up with his nonsense again while remaining professional.
Or: Maddie explains the concepts of racism and misogyny to Knuckles and discovers that her son has also been a victim of bigotry before coming to Earth.

Summary
After the hospital van drove away, Sonic was consumed by a storm of emotions.
Rage.
Resentment.
An incessant desire for revenge.
Hate.
So much hatred for what Shadow did to Tom.
To his dad.
The hedgehog couldn’t afford to lose another parental figure. Not again.
The blue blur could only think of making the black hedgehog regret ever doing what he did to his father.
Make him pay for the pain he had caused to him and his family.
Or: A little fic of Sonic’s thoughts and feelings during the third arc of Sonic 3.

Summary
“So, what’s going on, lil’ bro? Do you wanna talk about it?” Sonic asked kindly, his expression soft. He knew from experience that Tails might not be ready to open up yet. While the blue hedgehog suspected the kit’s tears were tied to his past, it could just as easily be about something else entirely.
“It’s just…” His younger brother clenched his fists, his twin tails curling slightly as his emotions spilled over. “I’m always screwing things up!” he burst out, his words trembling. “Back in Siberia, my tablet didn’t translate things properly, and we could’ve been dead! And Dad disguising himself as Commander Walters? That almost got him killed—because of my tech!” His voice wavered with raw guilt as he rambled, letting out everything he’d been holding inside.
“And I couldn’t even save you.” The young fox continued, as tears threatened to leave the kid’s baby blue eyes. “Knuckles had to. I’m such a screw-up, and I’m tired of it! I don’t think I deserve to be part of the team anymore…” His voice cracked on the last part, and he sniffled, unable to meet his older brother’s eyes.
Or: Tails gets into a guilt and self-hatred spiral, and Sonic helps him get out of it.

Summary
Her mind couldn’t help but drift back to the moment his husband got into the ambulance. She had looked blankly at her kids, unable to say a word. A bitter thought had crept into her mind then: If none of them had ever entered her life—or Tom’s—this wouldn’t be happening. They would be safe at home.
Guilt clawed at her immediately for even thinking that.
It wasn’t her kids’ fault.
It never would be.
None of this was.
This was on Shadow, Robotnik, G.U.N.—anyone but her sons.
Tom was going to be okay. Her husband had to be okay. The doctors said as such.
But their mother couldn’t stop herself from spiraling. She stared at her kids—her boys—and felt utterly lost, unsure of what to say or do.
Her kids needed their mother now more than ever.
But when they needed her the most, she hadn’t been there.
What a mother she was.

After her boys returned, Maddie apologized to them for not being there when they needed her the most.

Sonic's life had been going pretty well after they defeated Robotnik again, he's been living his life on Earth the best he can with his found family, Tom, Maddie, Tails and Knuckles, and he thought things would go great from here on.
But one thing none of them were expecting, is that during a normal day when they were at the baseball field, a ring portal appeared in the very center of it, and from it.. came a familiar figure Sonic thought.. was long gone..
