You fell into a calm silence, listening to the wind and rain rattle the windows and walls. You looked up at the statue standing at the far back wall, illuminated by the sconces that flickered with low flames, staring at the dead eyes of a figment of a god you didn’t believe in.
Until it stared back with crimson eyes.

They don't know what to believe when strange occurrences start to follow them or when it starts to help them find a man's killer.

"Kid, it's not your fault this happened. He chose to butt in to your fight when he did."
"He wouldn't have had to if I hadn't gone barreling in headfirst at the demon with the stupid magic jewelry," MK grumbles back, shifting his weight so Macaque isn't crushing his own broken arm against him. "I'm always doing stuff like that, and then someone ends up paying for it.”
The kid glances back at his friends, then down at the heap of monkey in his arms, brow creased.
“It just wasn't me this time. And that's worse."
Wukong hesitates, and hates himself for it. It's-- hard when the kid gets like this. He never seems to know what to say. The "do your best" platitudes and general oorah-ing stopped working ages ago, if they ever did at all.
Plus, every problem MK has faced so far has been, in some way, because of Wukong. Up to and including Macaque himself.
But not even knowing that is ever enough to shake off the guilt. He can see it in the kid's eyes.
So, in the absence of any other way to help him, Wukong relents.
"Alright. He can stay."

Soap makes bad choices, no one knows when banter crosses the line into flirting, and their comms definitely shouldn't be used like that. Somehow, despite themselves, they make it work.
This is mostly porn, with feelings added for a bit of spice.

Summary
Of course, Ghost wasn't blind to Soap's little crush on him. In fact, he relished in it sometimes. At first, he told himself that it was nothing and he wouldn't let himself get too far into it, afraid of letting the other man get too attached and get too attached himself, but he wasn't expecting how much he enjoyed teasing reactions out of the other man.
He wasn't expecting how much he absolutely loved how he was the only one who could make Soap blush from just a few suggestive words.
In which Soap realizes his feelings for Ghost and Ghost knows about his feelings.
