It wasn’t until his hand laid flat on the lid of the coffer that something suddenly clicked, and it brought a mortifying memory to the surface.
All the blood quickly drained from his face, and he clutched the lid tightly enough to whiten his knuckles, too.
“You already know what this is… don’t you?” he asked meekly.
“I do,” Hua Cheng confirmed. “But I’m curious to know where you found such a thing. Won’t you tell me?”

Nestled within the box was that dreadful child-bearing pill that was almost gifted to Hua Cheng a while back.
