Summary
Still, Horne, a tall beta man despite his “little” moniker, is something of a stickler for rules. This character trait juxtaposes pleasingly with the extravagant capriciousness of that most alpha of alphas, the Taskmaster himself, played by Greg Davies. The dynamic between the two works most effectively as, of course, we are all hanging on the pleasure of the Taskmaster, who treats everyone with the same cruel disaffection regardless of career, secondary or primary gender, or ability. “It works because nobody expects it of him,” says Horne, “But I think everyone likes that, secretly. That alpha urge to be mean, to be nasty. It’s very satisfying to watch. To participate in.”
- James Park, “The Secret to Taskmaster’s Cult Success”, The Guardian
Alex Horne has a secret - later in life than is meant to happen to anyone, he presented as an omega. He decides to keep it under wraps; how hard can it be? He's got a successful show, he's got a group of friends... but a flare of unexpected jealousy during filming, coupled with a chance meeting in a hotel room in Manchester, starts a chain of events that soon rumbles out of his control.

Summary
A battered and broken England has one hope left in the endless, brutal, battle against the Kaiju. When titanic monsters burst from the rift on the Atlantic Ocean's floor, destroying and murdering everything in their path, one desperate plea echoes from the bunkers and it is to the brave people of the Two Thrones Shatterdome. Save us, they beg. Save us from extinction. When the sky darkens, the earth shakes, and the mighty, mechanised Jaegers of Two Thrones stride the earth, all who see them pray for their pilots, for victory, for living one more day.
Their prayers will not be answered.
Legendary ex-pilot Commander Greg Davies has been transferred to the Two Thrones Shatterdome as the new drillmaster, and finds a base on the brink of utter defeat. It would take more than a miracle - more than a broken man haunted by his past, a ragtag band of resentful pilots, and more than the secretive scientist who just won't leave Greg alone.
WARNING! I have NOT finished writing this yet. Unheard of for me. My plan is to release a chapter per week, but I've been struggling to make progress on this and I hope the deadline will put a Jaeger boot up my arse. Please harass me.
