Shane’s eyes snap open. Wait a second.
“Ilya,” Shane says, propping himself up on his elbows. “Ilya, wake up.”
Ilya makes a pained noise, eyes still shut. “I shut curtains already.”
“It’s not that. Ilya, hey. Don’t go back to sleep.” Ilya tries to bury back into Shane’s chest, but adrenaline knifes through Shane’s hangover long enough for him to peel Ilya off and roll him into his back. Ilya blinks blearily up at him, starfished in the sheets. Beautiful and naked and missing his mother’s cross.
OR: When Ilya’s cross goes missing after the Centaurs celebrate their first Stanley Cup win, Shane is determined to get it back. And so are the Centaurs. And the rest of Ottawa.

Summary
After ignoring his phone in favor of getting split in two by his situationship, Shane is stranded in Boston at the start of the zombie apocalypse.
Ilya is left with nowhere to go, and Shane refuses to leave him behind. In order to survive, they have to cross the Canadian border and get to the cottage, together.
But getting to Canada is far easier said than done. When Ilya is badly injured, their road-trip becomes a race against the dead—and the infection spreading through Ilya’s leg.

Summary
Being the new kid in 5th grade is tough, but even more so when the other kids are afraid of you. Ilya finds this out first-hand when he starts at a new school after suddenly moving from Russia to Canada. He decides he's fine being a loner, but his mom keeps looking at him with those worried eyes whenever she asks about making friends. So, he decided to give it another shot when he spots another lonely kid on the ice at his afterschool hockey program.
Childhood friends AU based on this tweet by @mooneyedshane: 10 yr old Ilya who’s got no one in his corner meeting Shane once and just imprinting on him. Awkward 10 yr old Shane who can’t figure out how to talk to kids his own age and Ilya just starts following him around.

"We're setting you up with a billet situation," Fletcher continued. "It's pretty common for first-year players, especially international guys. Gives you a chance to settle in, learn the city, have someone looking out for you."
"Okay," Ilya said slowly, not entirely sure what a billet was, but not wanting to admit his ignorance.
He could guess from the context – he’d heard of rookies being assigned to live with older single players, veterans who could show them the ropes. Maybe that was what Fletcher meant. Connors maybe, he was probably a handful of years older than Ilya. Or perhaps Becker. Ilya just hoped it was someone who–
"You'll be staying with Nikolai Petrov and his family."
The words hit Ilya like a punch to the gut. For a moment, he forgot how to breathe.
"Petrov?" he managed, his voice coming out strangled.
__________________________________________________________________The Bears decide that Ilya should be set up with a billet for his first season. The idea of spending a year living with a man that Ilya is sure hates him is completely terrifying. And yet, it ends up being the best thing to ever happen to him.
