The reception for Itadori Yuji’s grandfather’s funeral had long since ended. He remained alone, staring down at the grave in silence. It had been short with just the gravekeeper and the officiant going through the motions and taking their time as though moving too fast or talking too loudly may set the visitor off. He felt rooted in place, ice trickling through his blood. None of it felt real from the time he’d heard the ringing of the electrocardiogram signaling the loss of Itadori Wasuke at the hospital. Since that moment, it felt like someone else was walking around in his skin, trudging through the motions of signing the death certificate and scheduling his grandfather’s funeral.
