The stranger gently grabbed his wrist. He raised it to his own throat so that Xiao’s hand wrapped around it, and with his stolen fingers Xiao could feel the warmth of the stranger’s neck, his pulse. The barest edge of his jawline.
“Venti,” he said.

It took about another minute of staring the other down for Xiao the enchanter and Venti the witch to realize the more subtle implications of that option.
And then, even though they'd both been having their own internal debates throughout the entire interaction so far, and even though they were in fact drastically different people, Xiao and Venti had, in the same moment, the exact same thought:
“Oh, God. A roommate.”
In which Venti the witch tries his best to break Xiao's mysterious curse.
