He stepped slowly up behind me; our eyes still connected in the mirror.

Set in New Moon. Bella makes a sacrifice to save Alice and Edward. She's now stuck with the Volturi, but a fascination rises quickly between her and a certain dark-haired vampire.

“I knew you’d say that, but I have a proposal for you.” Crowley leaned back against one of the shelves again. “I have no need of money. But I am in need of someone who can keep me company, someone I trust.” He waited for Aziraphale to interject, but when he got no reaction, he continued. “I have to attend charity dinners and other events all the time and it’s, truth be told, excruciatingly boring.”
Aziraphale is drinking his sorrows away when his former friend Anthony Crowley randomly re-enters his life. Unasked and much to his chagrin, Crowley helps him out with a debt. As repayment, Crowley suggests an arrangement which Aziraphale reluctantly agrees to.
The intention is that they go as friends, but their emotions evolve along the way...
