Quick like a whip, Riz’s hand intercepts his.
Fabian gasps.
The place where Riz touches his hand feels freezing cold, each fingertip like an ice cube on a sunburn. Fabian leans into the touch, pressing the palm of his hand against Riz’s wrist.
“Don’t use those,” Riz says, pulling his hand away from Fabian’s. Fabian feels like something was just stolen from him. His mouth falls open, but he doesn’t know what to say. How does he explain what he just felt? I’m burning up and you’re icy cold. Please, don’t pull away. Fabian shakes his head, trying to knock loose the strange feeling in his mind.
