"We all carry within us places of exile, our crimes, our ravages"
- Albert CampusTwo murderers run amok along the northern US, and despite trailing despair and bloody footprints behind them, they remain anonymous. Despite all seemingly reasonable judgement, Pure Vanilla is appointed to interview the most dangerous murderer this side of the east coast — Shadow Milk — to gain any information at all on these two killers as they take lives of innocent civilians.
For Pure Vanilla, this is a job.
For Shadow Milk, this is a game.
Will they both see the capture of these killers, or instead come to see a life where the other is nothing more than a memory?

Summary
What lingers first in Pure Vanilla’s memory are two eyes— cyan and blue.
They were not simply colors, not merely shades to be catalogued among the blossoms that lined the Vanilla hills. They were shadows caught in ice, stars buried in snow. And in the middle of all that frost, a boy who looked too small for the crown that would one day press against his brow, eyes too large for the timid boy who held them.
Pure Vanilla had not known then that love could strike so young.
He had thought it the sort of thing that bloomed late, like the orchids that only flowered when the sun coaxed them after patient months of waiting.
But with Shadow Milk, it was not coaxed— it was immediate.
Pure Vanilla is six, and he knows he's in love.

Summary
Shadow Milk falls. Sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly and voluntary enough that it doesn't quite fit the definition. Yet still, he ends up on the ground when he doesn't want to be. Candy Apple and Black Sapphire are instrumental in getting him back up.
