Summary
Soul-lights aren’t as common in this day and age as they were in the past, before quirks, but they’re common enough that people do still find their soulmates.

It always happens like this, from the very first time they met, sitting in the car together and just waiting for the inevitable crash - some part of their relationship just clicking into place unexpectedly.

Ignis’ hand still against Prompto’s mouth and his boyfriends eyes go wide in a different way - frantic and panicked.
Ignis needs to say something else but he can barely concentrate for the rushing in his ears.
Prompto loves him. Said it almost easily, like it’s been waiting on the tip of his tongue to burst forth into the world. Ignis has been feeling it, thick and molten inside of him whenever they’re alone, simmering when Prompto rolls over in the tent to whisper a kiss against his cheek to bid him goodnight.
Ignis has felt it but not dared to say it, not sure if it was sensible or safe in the topsy-turvy world they find themselves in.Alternatively: Five times Ignis and Prompto are forced to have important conversations in the car and the one time people won’t leave them alone long enough to talk.

Ignis withdrew, Prompto didn’t know how to reach out. Noctis was gone and Gladio was never good at playing mediator, couldn’t think up the soft words they both needed to start talking though Prompto knows they could have gotten a happier ending if they could just find any kind of beginning.
“I was angrier than I could admit, about what happened. To myself—to you and Noctis. You needed kindness,” Ignis whispers. “A softness I was not yet capable of offering.”
“I needed you.”
“I’ve been right here,” Ignis says.
“You sent me away,” Prompto argues.
“You asked if I thought you should go.”Alternatively: It’s been six years since their last kiss, but Prompto’s feelings haven’t changed.

It doesn't seem to make any sense. Except it does. Ignis is just so nice. Of course he cooks for Prompto, listens to him talk and holds his hand. That's just how Ignis is.
"You came all this way just for me?” Prompto asks.
“Of course,” Ignis says. “You deserve being cared for now and again, you know.”
Prompto wants to lean over and kiss him but holds himself back, that’s not exactly a friendly thing to do. It would ruin everything they have.
“S’not your job,” Prompto murmurs.
“No,” Ignis says, looking back now. His eyes are so green, sometimes Prompto manages to forget. “It’s my pleasure.”Alternatively: Prompto agrees to go on a date with Ignis — he simply misses it happening.

Summary
Ignis hates idle chatter, closes his door at the Citadel to avoid small talk and grinds his teeth through making coffee in the staffroom. Watching these streams is a little like that, he thinks, only listening to Quicksilver prattle about his day doesn’t annoy him in the slightest.
It just makes him want to hear more.
“What…is this?” Ignis asks awkwardly.
“A stream,” Noctis says slowly, sounding a little confused—rightly so, to him they had this conversation just two days ago. “It’s a game—”
“That part I understand,” Ignis says quickly. “But this game in particular. It’s about cleaning?”
Noctis snorts. “Kind of, I guess. It’s cool.”
“So, you’re saying if I bought one of those—”
“Can I power wash the Regalia?” Noctis asks excitedly. “Can I bring Prompto?”
The answer is no, but Ignis wonders if that's the only way he'll get to meet Prompto.Alternatively: When Noctis starts watching a new streamer, Ignis thinks nothing of it. Until he starts watching Quicksilver too.
