“If you had arrived earlier, would you have cheered for me as I walked atop the train?” Aurens whispered.
“Yes,” Ali humored grimly, disapproving of whatever ego-driven fantasy in which he was now participating. “Of course.”
Pleased with the answer, Aurens gave him a kiss which was almost demure in its softness. Despite himself, Ali smiled when he pulled back. It was the sort of simple tenderness he sometimes found himself craving when in the complicated intensity of the Englishman’s being.
“I felt like a god, Ali. Like a god among worshippers,” Aurens whispered.
