Summary

Summary
As Renly Baratheon’s forces mass near Highgarden, Guinevere Fossoway’s father decides to send her away, far from the fighting. Her elder sister, Leonette, had married one of the Tyrells of Highgarden, so Guinevere looks forward to an equally auspicious marriage. Her father informs her she will be wed to young Hamish Redwyne, youngest son of Lord Paxter. Guinevere dreams of days spent along the beautiful Redwyne straits, drinking the finest wines beneath the summer sun. On the eve of her departure, Guinevere is packed and eager to make the journey south.
But before she leaves, her father reveals the truth. Instead of Hamish Redwyne, she is to be wed to a man she has never heard of before—Arthur Brune, the young lord of Brownhollow, way out east in the dismal peninsula known as Crackclaw Point.

Summary
Jacaerys Velaryon died in the Battle of the Gullet.
Or so everyone else thinks.
After falling into the sea, Jacaerys is saved by a knight of House Waynwood, and brought back to the Vale to heal in peace and safety. Nursing him back to health is Lord Waynwood's youngest daughter, a girl who would rather explore the wilds of her home or read novels than politick. The two become fast friends. But it can't last.
As Prince of Dragonstone, Jacaerys must return to his duties as heir.
Yet Jacaerys doesn't want to go back.
The Vale is peaceful. Beneath the vast, blue skies of the mountains and moors he finds he can finally breathe for the first time in his life. Alerie Waynwood has shown him what it is like to really live.

The tragedy that befell Lucerys Velaryon at Storm’s End was never planned, on this all of our sources agree. The first battles in the Dance of the Dragons were fought with quills and ravens, with threats and promises, decrees and blandishments. The murder of Lord Beesbury at the green council was not yet widely known; most believed his lordship to be languishing in some dungeon. Whilst sundry familiar faces were no longer seen about court, no heads had appeared above the castle gates, and many still hoped that that the question of succession might be resolved peaceably.
The Stranger had other plans. For surely it was his dread hand behind the ill chance that brought the two princelings together at Storm’s End, when the dragon Arrax raced before a gathering storm to deliver Lucerys Velaryon to the safety of the castle yard, only to find Aemond Targaryen there before him.
And with Lucerys's death, the war of ravens and envoys and marriage pacts came to an end, and the war of fire and blood began in earnest.
Or, Lucerys is killed over Shipbreaker Bay as he was always fated to be. Only this time he doesn't stay dead.

In King's Landing, Otto and Alicent Hightower and the small council formulate a brilliant plan after crowning Aegon as King of the Seven Kingdoms: they will gain the support of the Baratheons or the Starks in the upcoming war against Rhanerya by offering the second Prince, Aemond Targaryen, to wed. The Baratheons are closer to King's Landing, but the northerners are said to have strong, loyal men.

The Dance of Dragons follows a different path: Aegon II dies at the Rook's Rest, and Prince Jacaerys miraculously survives Battle in the Gullet. Now he needs to secure a path to the throne for his mother and himself, as well as fulfill his duty by marrying Baela. However, many people aspire to the Iron Throne, and staying on it is not an easy task when there are traitors around. Even his own heart betrays Jace, tying him to the girl from house Hightower.
