    Kal turned to stare at the stranger. His face seemed tired despite the easy smile on his lips. The lights of the chandeliers played on his features, casting shadows where there should have been none. It was as though he could simply fade away, untethered to reality, nothing but a ghost of a dream. Kal knew, then, that should he let the stranger go, he would never see him again.
