Looking at the person who’d done nothing when Gabriel had died, when Raphael had turned cold and unfeeling and Lucifer cruel cruel cruel. The host is silent in his head for the first time in millenia, and Michael can almost hear himself think without the song of Heaven blaring a chorus at the back of his many skulls.

Valarr is told.
Only then Valarr realises what Maekar has been saying.
“Your mace?” he echoes. “Your blow?!” His hands are grabbing at Maekar’s shoulders before he knows it, knuckles going white as he struggles to find purchase on the metal of his armour. He hears the two Kingsguard knights stepping closer, but Maekar holds up a hand to make them pause.
“I do not recall the blow—I was trying to get to Aerion, I… he was walking from the field afterwards, he raised a hand in greeting, I—I did not know.” Maekar sounds like he needs to convince himself as well as Valarr.
He fails at both. Valarr shoves his uncle away, suddenly sick of his devastated face. “Away with you, then,” he hisses and turns to the room at large. “Out with you all! Now!”

Rosie, who did not cry easy, chopped onions so he would not be the only one with wet cheeks to scrub off. She asked him about herbs and spices, about stirring and cooking times, about what loaf would go best with it all. Sam said, “Rosemary, tarragon.” Part of him still rang against the greening metal of a copper pot dropped down a chasm and left somewhere on the edges of Mordor, but she saw him breathe deep and reach for thyme.

Nodding, Daemon slowly started circling around them, and asked, "And is it true that your houses have tried more than once to finally make peace through marriages, only for all of them to fail?"
"Yes, Your Grace?"
"I see. Well then, perhaps you will be the one that finally succeeds. Your King has decided that you two shall marry, feast, and bed in this very castle, tomorrow evening! And to ensure that the bride and groom do their duties, I shall be the only one that witnesses the bedding!"

Summary
Gwayne Hightower is a dutiful son.
He sees his father’s bullshit, understands his real motivations, but he remains loyal to him nonetheless. He would defend Aegon as King if it became necessary, not because he believes that he is the rightful heir, or because he think Princess Rhaenyra would kill him otherwise, but because he understands that his father will push to it, that Otto will initiate a war just to see Aegon crowed and that will put his life in the line and Gwayne will not just stand there and let his family be slaughtered because his father is a bastard.
But then here he is, watching as this narrative that his father is pushing into them destroys his oldest nephew, twists him into something angry and broken, watching as his sister loses herself to paranoia and anger, watching as it consumes and destroys every single person he loves.
And fuck that. Gwayne is a dutiful son, but the gods forgive him, he has to protect his sister and her family even if that means stabbing his father in the back.
Or: Gwayne Hightower becomes Otto's number #1 hater.

Gazerbeam narrowly escapes death at the hands of the Omnidroid, but gets gravely wounded. Still, he manages to survive in the cave on his own until help arrives.
He just didn't expect it to be in the form of Gamma Jack, who has gone undercover in Syndrome's mercenary ranks to avoid a similar fate to the other supers brought to the island.
Both heroes manage to escape Syndrome’s genocide, and finally get around to admitting a few things to each other!
Things seem like it’ll be a happy ending. Until the Deavors show up with a proposal to make superheroes legal again.
a.k.a. Right when Simon and Jack were starting to actually have a relationship, Gazerbeam is asked to be the Deavors’ superhero representative.
