At first, Mike was unsure how to approach him when he got like this. But they’ve been living together for months now, never further than five feet apart in their dorm beds, so Mike’s learned what works and what doesn’t.
It works when he wakes Will like this, with gentle hands and words, telling him he’s safe. It works when he climbs into Will’s warm bed, turning him on his side and curling up against his back, an arm over his waist and his cheek pressed against his shoulder. They lie together like that until Will’s hiccupping gasps soften into steady breaths, until Mike feels him go limp in his arms and he knows he’s fallen back asleep. It always works.
or: Will has nightmares and Mike is the only one who can console him. Not even Will's boyfriend can. Mike takes great pride in this fact.

His fluffy hair at the front, clumped pieces at the back where he’d slid his fingers in a mere few minutes before. His pretty green eyes that look hazel or even brown in this light, the dark circles he gets when he drinks framing them like intricate paintings. A satisfied, bloody smile.
Mike isn’t satisfied. He swallows thickly, choking down the words 'don’t you want more?'
Or: Will dresses as a vampire for a college halloween party, but Mike thinks his costume isn’t bloody enough. Will lets him fix it. Mike goes into a crisis.

Summary
Tommy approaches the king directly, standing right in front of him. Up close, from here, Tommy feels impossibly small. He has to tilt his head back to look up at this man, and the king stares down at him with a ghost of a smile, like he’s amused at the fact that they’re so far in terms of height.
His young hands lift up a wooden box. The king stares at it with disinterest, but he takes it when Tommy shoves it forward, almost hitting it into his armor.
Holding it in the palm of one hand, the king undoes the latch and lifts the lid. He pauses.
Inside that box, sits a woven crown made of fresh yellow flowers.
(Or, Technoblade is taking over the world, conquering kingdoms one by one, and Tommy is a young, newly crowned king who's waiting for him to arrive, with a gift of appeasement in hand.)

The job seemed simple enough at the time.
What Techno was told is that he was going after nobles. Nobles, in their fancy little chariots underneath the soothing moonlight of midnight. Nobles, which are surely important to the empire in some sort of way, but not so much that they can’t be replaced.
Nobles, who’s heads always end with Technoblade getting paid well and having a few weeks for time off.
These are not simple nobles. Technoblade is getting scammed.
(Or, Assassin!Technoblade gets a job to kill sbi. He's like "That's definitely not in my paygrade" but he ends up getting their attention anyway, and he's got his own secrets to keep...)
