Bucky doesn’t think about it at all just after coming off the ice and in the wind.
First few weeks after the riverbank, it’s all fight-or-flight, anyway. He’s paranoid as hell, putting too much effort into not snapping necks in panic. Don’t kill, it would draw attention, move, vanish. He still waits for orders that no one’s giving, so get the fuck outta here with that, he’s got bigger problems.
When Steve shows up, as if Bucky can be fixed with some elbow grease, all Bucky feels is a threat, the past coming to collect. He runs, and wants to erase himself the same way Hydra did, doesn’t want to be found, fixed, saved, and the last thing on his mind is someone he’s never actually met.
He doesn’t notice it in Schkeuditz.
Tether is most common when folk talk about it, soulmates when they preach abstinence in church. But it’s a distance thing. Eight feet, three inches. Doesn’t sound like fate to Bucky. Sounds like math.

Summary
New York might be a sprawling concrete jungle, but the term "six degrees of separation" is less a theory and more a fucking day-to-day reality, especially if you wear spandex for a living. To be fair, in a city of eight million stories, Peter should hardly be surprised that he eventually collides with a one-armed super-soldier and whatever-the-hell-category Deadpool falls into. Should be hardly surprised, but almost is, even though it was a long time coming. Village. This city is a fucking village and, seriously, there should be a support group for this—'Anonymous Super-People of NY', or something equally cliché.
A completely filthy, untrue, occasionally ridiculous, and canon-compliant story about how Peter Parker falls in love, Bucky Barnes meets Cable, and Deadpool finally gets a llama.

Summary
Peter is a comic books fan, which is probably pretty weird considering he's an actual superhero, but whatever. He's made peace with it.
Now an adult with a full-time job to juggle on top of his Spider-Man duties, he doesn't have time to read most releases for his favorite characters, save for one: Deadpool. He keeps up religiously with Deadpool. Even has a poster of him on his wall, and even occasionally talks to that poster just to keep the crippling loneliness of his double-life at bay.
Deadpool's newest and most mysterious series, Deadpool: Arrival, is... strange. The plot is paper thin and pointless, none of Deadpool's usual crowd shows up, and his fourth wall breaks are... weird. Like, weird weird. Uncanny, some might say.
Or, really, one might say. Because the longer Peter reads, the more he begins to realize that all those fourth wall breaks, all those weird asides, seem to be tailored to one person, and one person alone: himself.
