    Atsumu lowered himself to the floor and hugged his knees. Kiyoomi followed suit, but he put some distance between them. He couldn’t know how Atsumu was reacting precisely, though he’d dealt with subs before.

    Atsumu would likely not cling to him and ask to be comforted.

    Lo and behold, he was wrong. What unfolded next left Kiyoomi feeling a mixture of bewildered and…pleased. It began with Atsumu letting out a sound too soft to belong to him at all and ended up with him crawling into Kiyoomi’s personal space.

    His eyes were rimmed with tears, his breaths shallow. “Omi,” he said, his voice wan, “please.”

    Nothing more. Just that word. In that voice. A voice that tugged at all of Kiyoomi’s instinct, a voice that told him to protect.

    Or: The one where Wei Wuxian secretly adopts A-Yuan and when he tries to convince Lan Wangji he had a kid all along, Lan Wangji rolls with it, ups the ante, and sets off a game of chicken that digs up buried feelings that Wei Wuxian is 100% sure he's not going to act on. Okay, 90% sure.

There’s a young man’s face smiling down at him, his eyes round and crinkled with joy, his teeth white. The video footage is slowed, wind blowing through his mop of dark hair as a CGI background ripples behind him. I’m going for gold! reads the line of text beside him; beneath it is printed Wei Ying – Archery.

    It's… preposterous, how handsome he is. How much he looks like he belongs there, up on the screen above the city’s most fabulous shopping arcade. More like an idol, a high-paid talent, than an athlete.
