Summary
“All I’m asking is what does someone do in a library all day?” Something in his gut told him to keep pushing the subject. Years in the ED meant that Robby trusted his gut more than anyone. He was scratching the surface of something and he didn’t know what.
“Read.” Whittaker’s tone was short and clipped. He didn’t sound anything like his awkward but well-meaning self. His shoulders were tense like he was preparing for a fight. “Are the labs back for my patient with vertigo?” he asked, turning away from Robby.

Summary
Ilya closed his eyes. His head was hurting even more. His back too. Had he hurt himself on the ice? “You are a liar.” He felt the couch move as Shane leaned over to flick him in the ear. “Ow,” he complained.
“Stop being an asshole.”
“Leave me alone.” Ilya ran a hand over his face. Even his own hands were too warm. “I have headache.” He opened his eyes to see Shane looking at him. He had little crinkles above his eyebrows. The one on the right side was deeper than the left. That meant he was worried.Or

Summary
He stopped himself from adjusting a throw pillow for the millionth time and walked to the mirror hanging in a nearby hallway. His reflection was still a little strange to him, even after all these years. It was hard to get used to having a TV for a face. Vox was managing pretty well though. He leaned in closer and concentrated. Rings appeared in his right eye, pulsating in a way that almost made him dizzy. Perfect. He hadn’t been using the power for very long but it was proving effective. He smiled, embarrassed at how giddy it looked. Alastor was going to be so proud.

Summary
Alastor toyed with a spare cog, rolling it between his fingers. “May I ask,” he began. He let the cog fall out of his palm. “Why are you doing this?”
Vox barely looked up from his extensive pile of mechanical nonsense. Honestly, how many wires were truly necessary? The whole workbench looked like a scrapyard. “I told you, Al.” He squinted at a strange piece of metal. “I can’t claim to be the TV demon if I’m not sporting the latest model.”
Alastor rolled his eyes. Vox’s obsession with constant innovation was inconceivable to him. There was no harm in tradition. “I suppose the better question is why do you need my help?”Or

Summary
Shane thought about it, a lot more than he should've. And it showed. It showed in the way he'd begged Ilya to sell his Ducati the summer they got married. It showed in the number of times he'd had to calm his racing mind when Ilya took twenty minutes longer than expected at the grocery store.
It showed in his heaving breaths, now. He was sitting up in his bed, his husband sleeping peacefully next to him, and he felt like he was on the edge of a panic attack.
The plane didn't crash, and Ilya didn't die.
Shane still feels the aftershocks.

Summary
Flight 771 shouldn't have been any different than any of the hundreds of other flights that Shane has taken over the course of his career, aside from the fact that it was taking him towards his lifelong dream—towards the Olympics.
It shouldn't have been any different.

Summary
“That man has a boyfriend,” Rose says, certain.
“He does,” Rae agrees easily, their voice equally certain.
“He’s never gonna tell me who it is,” Rose says.
“Definitely not,” they agree.
“I’m gonna figure it out,” Rose says.
Rae doesn’t comment on that, just dips their sponge back into the blue paint. Silently begins to layer it over the back of Rose’s hand, carefully dabbing to make sure that it fills the creases of her knuckles, the dips between each finger.
It’s impressive, really, how much doubt Rae manages to communicate though the gentle press of a sponge.
Whatever. Rose figured out Shane’s sexuality before he did. It shouldn’t be that much more difficult for her to figure out who his boyfriend was. She does have excellent gaydar after all. Though she really wishes it would more frequently kick in before she started sleeping with yet another gay man.
Or, Shane Hollander has a boyfriend. Rose is going to find out who it is, one way or another.

Summary
Hayden knows what he saw. Clear as day, right there in the middle of Shane’s text thread with Lily.
A dick pic.
Hayden keeps mindlessly scrolling Instagram—a pantomime of paying attention, not really taking in anything that’s passing across his screen. Mind racing as a series of realizations wash over him.
Christ, no wonder Shane was so cagey about Lily. No wonder he didn’t want to introduce her to the guys.
Hayden would like to believe that everyone would be chill with it, but he could think of at least five guys off the top of his head that would a hundred percent take issue with Shane dating a trans woman. He can imagine, far too easily, the kind of slurs that would get thrown around the locker room if anyone ever found out. Towards Lily, sure, but towards Shane too—because Shane had to be gay, if his girlfriend had a dick, right?
Or, Hayden finds out something that he was never supposed to, and decides that the only thing he can do is show his best friend that he can be the best ally ever, if he just gives him the chance.Series
