    Summary

She was his wife, sitting on his lap in their kitchen after making him dinner. The image was so perfectly domestic, so traditionally wifely, that it triggered something primal in him. This was what men were supposed to have, what his father had, what every man in Smallville expected as his due. A pretty woman waiting at home, devoted to his comfort, willing to arrange herself for his pleasure.

He'd never expected that from Lois. Had never asked for it, never even fantasized about it because it seemed so contrary to who she was. But here she was, offering it freely, and he felt drunk with the gift of it.

Clark and Lois explore the dichotomy of loving each other as equals, whilst also indulging in the fantasy of traditional gender roles. Set 1940s-50s. Inspired by both 9x13 Persuasion, and 6x20 Noir.

    Summary

“Plutt should have had some money with him. A non-insignificant amount. Kept it in a lockbox, maybe?”

“If he did I never saw it,” Rey said, reestablishing her hold on the gun. Her palms had grown clammy and slick with anxiety. “Now, get out of my damn house. I’ll shoot the both of you. Don’t think I won’t.”

“I don’t doubt it,” the night-cloaked stranger chuckled darkly. “But, sweetheart, that there is a double-barrel shotgun. You shot poor Mr. Plutt there just a moment ago, so, at most, you’ve got one shot left. Personally, I doubt you’ve got that. What do you think?”

    ---
Rey's never been particularly lucky. Her husband inviting a group of strangers into their home is just another star to add to her unlucky sky. She suspects them to be thieves and murderers and when they prove her correct she has little choice but to run or hide. Will the arrival of a different group of outlaws - the Ren Gang - to her little homestead prove to be her damnation or salvation? Could it be both?

    Summary

The first time it happened, in the midst of battle preparations at Karthas, Damen had dismissed it as a momentary lapse. Laurent’s voice, issuing curt orders, and his own involuntary reaction: nothing more than force of habit, the instincts he had trained into himself, deliberately, in order to survive.

Nikandros had noticed then, and had let it go with the circumspect silence of a kyroi to his king. That was as it should be, Damen thought. It was not worth discussing. It was not even worth thinking about.

    Summary

After a fire leaves her with nothing but ashes and a forgotten betrothal, Rey is sent from India to the cold, echoing halls of Wrenwick Manor. The engagement is nearly a year overdue, and her intended—Lord Solo—is a man carved by war, more specter than savior. The marriage should have been voided, but he never withdrew the offer.

Yorkshire is bleak. The manor, bleaker still. And yet beneath its withering silence, something begins to stir. A memory. A hunger. A seed of something half-dead pushing through frostbitten soil.

He is running from a past soaked in blood. She is clinging to a version of this place that may never have existed.

Somewhere between locked doors and shadowed halls, they begin to bloom—darkly, desperately, beautifully.

A gothic romance about what survives the burn. About the ache to be known, and the terror of being seen. About roots that tangle… and rot.
