The summer song of screaming cicadas ebbed in the cool, breezy evening air. They were alone out here—just Eren and Levi. This little clearing in the forest wasn’t the usual place Eren trained; it was a little more secluded here, covered almost entirely by a canopy of leafy branches arcing overhead.
It would be quite romantic if Eren wasn’t flat on his back in his titan body, with his head turned to the side so one cheek rested in the grass.

"It's a shame you don't agree with me, Eren," Zeke said, his voice soft, barely more than a whisper. He reached out and brushed Eren's hair out of his face, tucking some behind an ear. Eren pulled his face away from that touch.
"It's okay," Zeke said. "I can touch you now all I like. I had to be careful before, but here it doesn't matter." He ran his knuckles along Eren's cheek. Again, Eren pulled away. Zeke dropped his hand and sighed.
"Why are you still so resistant?" Zeke asked. His tone sounded the same as ever, patient and almost kind. Eren knew better. He'd always known better.
