Summary
The day that Ted leaves London, Trent lies down on his floor for a full hour and mentally lists to himself every single reason he absolutely cannot go to the airport and make a fool of himself. Mostly it’s because that is exactly what he’d be doing - he would just be making a fool of himself.
There’s never been one single concrete indication that Ted is anything other than straight. Trent’s basically never even seen him outside of work with the exception of team events or post-match conversations. They text occasionally, and Trent would consider them friends only because he’s certain Ted would be offended if he didn’t - but they aren’t close. Trent has fallen stupidly, lethally, madly in love with him completely from afar.
or - trent tries to cope with ted leaving, accidentally befriends roy kent, figures out why ted cut off everyone at richmond, and accidentally builds some bridges - and maybe gets some more personal benefits out of it as well. eventually.

Summary
Trent had generally become accustomed to the… bizarreness of Nelson Road. The movie nights, the karaoke outings, the truly absurd amount of inspirational speeches among other things.
But nothing could have prepared him for stepping into his office and being greeted with the most bizarre sighting of all time.
Ted Lasso was speaking with his ex-wife.
Actually, correction- Ted Lasso was not only speaking with his ex-wife, he was holding hands with his ex-wife and they were laughing.
Or:
Trent meant it when he told Colin that he and his ex-wife were closer than ever. But that was before he found out that she was also extremely close to his crush, Ted Lasso.
(Trent's perspective during Reading Between the Lines)
