Gabriel is an expert in his craft. He steals but he wouldn't call himself a thief, that's too degrading. He's no simple criminal. He prefers the term 'procurer' or 'obtainer'. Someone rich wants something and so Gabriel gets it for them... through some back channels. Easy business.
It just so happens that the jewel Gabriel's latest client wants belongs to Nico. And it also happens that Nico does not mind parting with it for he has found himself a new jewel of interest.
