Summary
Phillip Crane is twelve. Eloise Bridgerton is ten. The pond is technically on Aubrey Hall land, though he has never quite conceded this.
They meet every summer. They write letters when they can't. He makes her a bookmark out of pressed clover so she'll stop bending the pages. She embroiders him a lopsided daisy and calls it character.
It is a very long time before either of them calls it anything else.
