Summary
Dead. A Shinigami was dead.
The girl, shaking and afraid, was alive. A man lay dead at her feet, and she had an unnatural number of years above her head. Gelus had tried to save her, and he had died for it.
Humans had a word for that, didn’t they?

How frightening.
Well, something had to be done about his death note.
Rem picked up Gelus’ notebook from where it lay on the rocky ground of the Shinigami realm. If she knew Gelus, which she did, she knew what he would want her to do with it. Who he would want her to give it to.
Rem was very cautious, and she always had been. However, from this point, there were exactly three times when she made a choice which, for better or worse, put her in more danger than she would like. Here’s the first:

Merlin was technically banished, but everybody knew he wasn’t really gone. Sometimes, the cooks would leave out spare food only to find their shelves fully restocked the next day. Gwaine would leave out plans to prank the other knights and they would be carried out within the hour. Arthur would turn a blind eye to the way familiar blue eyes twinkled at him from underneath the hood of a cloak, or ignore the whispers that said the stocks were haunted.
