  4. Summary

“And there are some, like me,” Obi-Wan said, voice softening against his will, “who relapse. And relapse. And… and it never quite leaves. I’m afraid I’m rather susceptible to the kind of emotional distress that the flowers thrive in. There is so much love to be had in the galaxy, and I can’t help but… even when it hurts. Perhaps especially when it hurts. I let it get ahold and it’s chronic at this point. Even if I never loved again, I will always have… this.” He spread a hand over his own chest and already, he could feel the stuttering slip of petals and leaves threatening. He kept his breathing slow and shallow, and the threat passed—for now.

OR: a peek into a galaxy where Obi-Wan suffers from chronic Hanahaki, a condition where flowers grow in his lungs, and despite his best efforts, he waters them every day.

    Summary

Essek returns, when he can, to the sanctuary of Caleb's home. The peace of it is a balm against the tedious peril of the road, which has more misery to share than Essek had ever thought. It's nice to have a place where he can lose himself: in a book, in arcane study, in the confusing allure of Caleb's smile.

It's nice. And the cats miss him, Caleb says.

    Summary

Victor sat on a chaise in the Doorman's private quarters, watching as the figure threaded a curved needle. He flinched at the way he felt the needle and thread glide in and out of the layers of his skin.

    "Hold still," the Doorman commanded.

    Summary

And yet Nanami is probably the person best-positioned to know of his humanity. Because he’s the only one who’s seen Gojou’s naked vulnerability. For all his power and his techniques and his impossible confidence, Gojou is human. He can suffer, he can weep, and he can die. And his death is something the world of sorcery can’t afford. Gojou made them what they are today, and he can break them just as easily.

So here Nanami is, watching him oppressively while he wolfs down his first meal in days, manic with exhaustion and unable to break out of his nosedive.

    Summary

Some people, Kento often thinks with the objectivity afforded by emotional distance, are natural-born caretakers. People like that—who can relate to and so selflessly give to others—have always fascinated him in a passive sort of way, because Nanami Kento is not one of them.

Nanami learns how to care less for himself and more about others. Itadori learns how to care more for himself and less about others. Set during and contains spoilers for the Vs. Mahito arc and the Exchange Event arc.
