Flustered and cornered, Shane injects his Captain Voice into the conversation. “Ma’am, I understand that you’re upset, but I paid for this seat and am going to stay here. You’ll have to find someone else willing to change places or just fly with the seat you booked. I’m sorry I couldn’t help you.”
She hisses like a goddamn tea kettle, and starts to say, “You are the most selfish man I’ve ever—” when another voice behind her says, “You are blocking my seat. Move.”
Shane and the woman turn to assess the new arrival. It turns out that his seat partner is well above six feet tall, ripped as hell, and knows how to deliver an excellent bitch face. This can't happen. Shane can't have feelings for Rozanov. Where could that possibly lead? Nowhere good, surely. Rozanov is not someone he can have. Not beyond the occasional hookup. Shane almost misses the little beep signaling his door being unlocked and then the commotion enters his room in a buzz of voices and bodies. It stops abruptly, too many eyes staring at him as he stares back.
Shane sighs and takes off his glasses, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Ilya. I think we need to talk.”
“No Ilya here. I hear he’s very good husband…very handsome.”
The commotion returns in full force. Shane catches a few snippets, nice glasses, Roz said, movie night, team bonding, and decides he gets the general gist of things.Or: 5 times Shane and Ilya break the no-sex-on-the-road-rule and 1 time they don’t.
