But then, that’s not really fair, is it?
“You don’t have a better way to spend Christmas Eve than walking by yourself through a park?” Giyuu asks, pulling his gaze away from the lights to look up at Shinazugawa. His expression hardens. The snow falling lands in his hair and vanishes, blending perfectly with the silvery locks. The lights make him glow softly.
He’s very pretty, too.

They lay there, for a while, looking up at the overcast sky. Ash slips his hand into hers, and she squeezes it, and he squeezes back, and she hasn’t done this since he was very young. She leans her cheek over until it’s resting on his hair.
She’s too scared to say anything, lest the moment end.
These moments with Ash are always like this, ephemeral. Every time she reaches for him he’s already turning to leave.
But right now, he’s here. And he’s holding her hand, and she’s the happiest she’s been in an entire year.
“I…” Ash starts. “I really miss Pallet sometimes,” he says, again. She can recognize it for what it is. A peace offering. A plea.
She squeezes his hand even tighter. “I know you need to see the world,” she responds, voice careful. “But come back when you can, okay?”
