Summary
The Stranger hesitates, and does something Hob would not have believed possible. He stammers. “I- I do not remember. I came to and was being pursued.”
Hob notices the older man approaching, but is shocked as his voice rings out, addressing them both, “My dear boy, I am so glad we have found you.” He observes the situation warily; the only reaction from his friend is subtle, the smallest recoil.
“Who exactly are you?” Hob asks the man.
“Why, I’m Paul McGuire, and I can’t thank you enough,” the man looks at Hob’s ID badge, “Dr. Gadling, for finding my nephew.”
Hob’s eyes narrow, as he flatly asks, “Your nephew?”

Hob’s life is forever changed when his Stranger literally stumbles back into his life, amnestic and hunted, and he must use the skills gathered over an immortal life to evade their pursuers. They soon realize that bits of memory are coming back to Hob’s Stranger, through the power of literature. They are slower, however, to recognize that the most important story to explore may be their own.
A love letter to books, libraries, and the stories that make us, and allow us to change for the better.

'400 year-old pocket knife restoration,' the title says, and the still thumbnail is a picture of an anonymous man's hands dipping an unidentified object – though he's willing to guess it's the aforementioned four-hundred year-old knife – into what looks like a baking soda bath.
And then it cuts to a video of the knife.
His knife.
Hob Gadling watches an ASMR video about knife restoration and gets a bit in his feelings about the whole thing (sometimes immortality isn't all it's cracked up to be). Thankfully, he has a friend who understands.

“I’ll guard you for a night,” Hob says, “and say I please you, you can either pay me for a day’s work, or keep me on ‘til you reach where you’re going.”
“Do you know the way to Canterbury?” the lord asks, and Hob nods.
“Oh, yes. It’s a few days’ ride, not more than three or four, by my memory.”
“Then you shall have three days to please me, Robert Gadling.”
In 1389, known mercenary and bandit Hob Gadling offers to escort a strange lord to Canterbury, and wagers that he can guess the man's name in three days.

Summary
When an exorcism goes horribly wrong (as they so often do), Johanna Constantine really does not expect the corpse to laugh at her morbid jokes and get to its feet again afterwards. Hob Gadling, in turn, does not expect that his new friendship with a feisty exorcist and magician will lead to him not only learning the name of his Stranger, but to them running into each other in Johanna's ex-girlfriend's flat. Nor does he expect how changed he will find Dream to be after his long absence...
