Summary
Bilbo Baggins has built a perfectly curated life on surfaces. Witty columns, cocktail parties, and relationships that never go deeper than a morning coffee. It's a system that works beautifully. Until he steps onto a freezing balcony at a friend's party and meets Thorin Oakenshield.
Thorin Oakenshield, master carpenter with scarred hands and a vault where his heart used to be, builds things meant to last. But when it comes to the sharp-tongued writer who's slowly dismantling every wall he has, Thorin can only seem to love him in the dark – and leave before breakfast.
What starts as a crackling collision of two fiercely guarded men quickly spirals into something neither of them can control. Thorin touches Bilbo like he's the most precious thing he's ever held, but only after dark and never with the words to match.
Bilbo knows he should walk away. Thorin knows he should let him. Neither of them can stop reaching for the other, even as the distance between what they are and what they could be threatens to destroy them both. -

When Thorin, pub owner in the north of England, helps Bilbo (on a business trip from London) get his car unstuck from a snowbank, sparks begin to fly. Then as the weather outside becomes frightful, they decide Bilbo doesn’t have any better place to go.
