Summary
It’s the summer of ’86. Mike is left to babysit Holly when Mrs. Wheeler gets a job, so Will and Mike have an unlikely companion during some of their hangouts. Will gets to see Mike in a new light, and they realize that maybe part of growing up is figuring out how not to.

“Who’s that?” Holly whispered to Mike, though if she was trying to be subtle, she didn’t exactly succeed.
Will laughed, a little confused. He knew he had never talked that much to Holly, but she had definitely known who he was.
“I’m Will. Will Byers. Do you remember me? I used to come over here a lot.”
Not taking her eyes off of Will, Holly leaned into Mike’s knees to whisper closer to his ear. “He’s handsome now,” she said, completely audibly.

Summary

“... Will.”
“Okay, sure, yeah. What about him?”
“I’m a bad friend.” Mike admitted, breathing it out like a vomited confession, like something he was desperate to be rid of.
“Did something happen?” Steve asked.
“Yes.” He paused. “Well, no. It’s— it’s more like… more like… he got a boyfriend.” Mike huffed out a breath.
“I know.” Steve agreed slowly, brows raised. “Carlton. Will, Robin and I met up a while back and he introduced us. Seems like a good kid. What about him?”
Mike felt like a fucking idiot.
Of course Steve didn’t get it. Why would Steve get it?
“I… I just…” How was Mike even meant to begin to talk about this? “It’s driving me crazy, man. I hate the guy.”
OR -
Mike spirals about his feelings, gets in his car, and somehow ends up going to Steve Harrington for help. He gets a much-needed pep talk and finally goes after what he wants.

Summary
“My Will, he-“ Sir Michael paused, and for the first time he appeared bashful. “Well, he’s very beautiful. The fairest in all the land! And he’s powerful too, second only to the powers of my Lady Jane.”
He inclined his head towards El, admiration glowing in his eyes. “It was her magic alone that could vanquish the wicked sorcerer, rid us of his darkness, and I could free my love from his chains.”
Sir Michael turned, a wet smile on his face and he took careful steps towards Will. Will looked stunned by the story, staring at the knight with wide eyes.
“But it appears the prince’s beauty does not diminish, not even across worlds.” Stopping before Will, Sir Michael dropped to one knee, reaching up and taking Will’s hand in his own. “For you are just as fair, a sight that soothes my sorry eyes after so long alone in this strange land.
“Allow me to stay by your side, to protect you with my sword as I swore to you long ago. My prince, my guiding light-“ he lowered his head, lips brushing Will’s knuckles- “my love.”
Or:
A knight appears in Hawkins, a knight that looks just like Mike. And he won't stop professing his love for Will! Mike is completely, totally chill about it.
