Summary
Lying on his living room sofa in the dark, scrolling back through his text message thread with Lan Zhan for no particular reason other than some deeply unconscious part of his mind finds it inexplicably soothing, the lingering shakiness of Wei Ying's hands is perhaps enough to explain what happens next.
He realises what he's done on the first ring.
Lan Zhan picks up on the second.

"Lan Zhan!" shouts Wei Ying across the crowded room, across a sea of suits and dresses and glittering accessories, beneath twinkling lights festooned among draped fabric and above the hotel function room bar he's currently leaning sideways over as he waves with both energetic hands. "Lan Zhan! What do you want to drink?"
Wei Ying is not wearing a suit. Wei Ying, for some reason, is still wearing his exhibition skate costume with the mesh cutout strips up the sides of his legs and body and the gold glitter in a glowing streak across his cheekbones that catches the light and sends it sparkling into his dark eyes – and he's clearly done nothing more than remove his skates in the hours since the gala, because his hair still falls loose and windswept down almost to his waist exactly as it had tumbled out from his dramatically released ponytail halfway through the performance.
"What do you want to drink??" Wei Ying shouts again, because Lan Zhan's been staring at him instead of answering.

"Have you thought about it," Wei Ying says, softly enough beneath the noise of the crowd that Lan Zhan can pretend he hasn't heard if he chooses.
"No," says Lan Zhan, and it's the kind of no that has a silent postscript.
No, because I won't.
All at once, Wei Ying figures it out.

Summary
No-one (except Wei Ying, who acts as though he's legally obligated to, and Lan Zhan, who doesn't like him), would deny that Jiang Cheng is attractive. Wen Qing doesn't usually think of herself as someone with a weakness to these things – but there's something about the sharpness of his jawline and high cheekbones, the loose sweat-curled strands of hair that escape the almost-neat bun gathered at the back of his head, the defined set of his shoulders as tight fabric outlines curving muscle Wen Qing actually just wants to grab onto and dig her nails in to keep herself steady as he –
– yeah, okay, this time maybe she has just a little bit of a weakness to it.
It's not just that, though. Wen Qing wishes it was just that, because that would be much easier to deal with.
The trouble with a Wei Ying POV fic is that actually, quite a lot goes on in the background while he's busy almost dying.

“Ah.” Wei Ying frowns. “Lan Zhan, I—I hope it’s okay with you that they’ve teamed us up? I thought … someone said you’d asked for a co-commentator, so I thought the ISU ran it by you first, but if you’re … well, you know …” he trails off, seeming at a loss for words.
“They did not ask me,” Lan Zhan says. “If they had, I would have told them that I work better alone. However”—he holds up a hand to forestall what appears to be another torrent of words from Wei Ying—“I have been informed that a co-commentator is a requirement for the Olympic commentary job, and so I will make this situation work.”
Lan Zhan, popular figure skating commentator, reluctantly gains a co-commentator.

Wei Wuxian opens the letter and skims through, feeling his frown deepen with every line. “Oh. A request from Yiling. This man Tong Shen writes, 'I can’t explain what’s happening — you wouldn’t believe me if I tried. The hills are moving and they are hungry. Please send aid, Hanguang-jun, this humble one begs you.' Well, my curiosity is certainly piqued."
A few months after the events of Guanyin Temple, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji take on a night hunt of an unusual sort: The Burial Mounds are spreading, quickly and with no apparent explanation.
In Wei Wuxian, it brings old, long-buried things bubbling to the surface.
