“Fuck it,” Eddie mumbled before unlocking the phone again and opening his text thread with Buck. They hadn’t texted since Buck asked him if he wanted a scone or a danish from their favorite coffee shop before their last shift. Eddie sighed and pressed the corner of the phone against his forehead.
He didn’t want to ask for help. He could spend another hour circling around the city. But he didn’t want to. He wanted this awful horrible day to be done. He wanted to hold his child and pretend for a little bit that everything was still whole. He sighed again before pressing call and pressing the phone to his ear.

Eddie finally asks for what he needs in the aftermath of the sudden loss of his Abuela. Buck finally stops running from his grief. And then Eddie’s parents show up.

From floors below, Raphael heard a vampire yelling “STOP!” Raphael untangled his limbs from Simon and stepped away. Simon stepped after him blinking slowly.
“What’s wrong?” Simon asked when Raphael pushed his hands away.
“Was this all a ploy?” Raphael yelled at Simon as a crash echoed from below.

Buck looks at him, and Eddie’s whole body has gone so rigid he looks carved from stone, but Buck will ruminate on that later. Summary
Okay, so Eddie isn’t a hundred percent sure Buck feels the same. But sometimes when Buck looks at him Eddie feels loved, like Buck is capable of making his love a solid thing with weight and density, that he places around Eddie’s shoulders like a cloak of Evan Buckley’s devotion.
The first problem with being in love with your best friend (who may love you back), who doesn’t know that you’re even an option—is that it means you have to make yourself an option, and the only way Eddie can be an option, is by telling Buck he is an option.
And the Buckley-Han New Year’s party, probably isn’t the time for The Big Gay Reveal™; queue jazz hands and confetti.
Or; It’s New Year’s Eve, and Eddie accidentally comes out to all of his friends throughout the night.
